Elizabeth Beard
Born: April 11, 1922
Died: June 13, 2014

Elizabeth Beard passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2014 after a life as a wonderful mother, wife, sister, daughter, and mother-in-law. Born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on April 11, 1922 to Henry and Myrtle Braun (nee Wolfinbarger), she had a half-brother, Henry, a half-sister Lucy (Moses) and sister, Bonnie (Aspensen).

Blessed with a happy childhood growing up in Guthrie, she graduated from Guthrie High School. She left college to work for the war effort in Florida during WWII and met her future husband, George Beard (from Wharton, TX), then an Ensign Naval Aviator. They married in 1945, had sons James, Lee (deceased), and daughter Barbara.

Liz lived in Texas and had a successful career as a banker, retiring as Vice President of the Note Department at the Bank of Houston. After her husband’s death in 2008, she moved to the La Costa Glen retirement community in Carlsbad, CA where she remained until her passing

She loved people, entertaining and playing bridge. She was a devoted mother and highly thought of by everyone who knew her. Her presence will be sorely missed.

There will be a graveside gathering at 2 pm, this Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie.
