Rosie Nell Benz
(January 23, 1948 - January 3, 2008)

Services for Rosie Nell (Derr) Benz will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 7, 2008 at the Abernathy Aaron Funeral Chapel in Crescent. Rosie passed from this life on January 3, 2008 in Enid, Oklahoma at the age of 59 years.

Rosie was born January 23, 1948 to William and Dora (Beal) Derr. She graduated from Yale High School on May 26, 1966. On May 25, 1968 she married the love of her life and best friend Johney Benz, this union gave her an instant family with four teenage daughters.

Survivors include, her husband Johney of the home; four daughters, Janice Rushing of Freemont, Nebraska, Shirley Risenhoover and husband Terry of Oklahoma City, Marilyn Gatlin and husband Jimmie of Durant, Oklahoma and Dorothy Crowder and husband Jeff of Greenwood, Arkansas; one brother, Raymond Derr and wife Brenda of Beaver Creek, Ohio; seven sisters, Mary Hinshaw and husband Harold, Fern Dennis of Drumright, Oklahoma, Jessie Castleberry and husband Tom of Perkins, Oklahoma, Dora Covey of Oklahoma City, Alice Scolten of Denver, Colorado, Anna Ely and husband Raymond of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Susie Moor and husband Verlin of Stillwater, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James, Edward and William Derr and by a sister, Martha McClendon; one niece, Rita Kay Castleberry.

Rosie loved being a homemaker and cooking. She liked doing her crafts, fishing and watching races. She also loved spending time with her best friend and husband of forty years. She was involved in many activities and was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge and worked on the Election Board. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Family hour will be from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at abernathyaaron.com.
