Marlene Jeanene Uselton

Born: April 13, 1955
Died: June 17, 2012

Marlene Uselton, 57, was born on April 13, 1955 to Harvey Ray Hardy and Mary Jane Bessinger in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 17, 2012.

She was a graduate of Guthrie High School and on November 11, 1977 she married Monty Joe Uselton. Together they raised two sons; Jeremiah Justin Uselton and Joshua Cain Uselton.

She was a dedicated and determined mother. For years Marlene and Monty had a family farm that they ran together. Later they opened a liquor store and she was there every day she could be so that she’d greet her customers with a smile, a kind word, and a friendly face. She was great with arts and crafts and had a real love of refinishing antique furniture. Her favorite piece was her china cabinet.

She was preceded in death by her husband Monty Joe Uselton on April 14, 2003; her father Harvey Hardy; her mother-in-law Susie Uselton; and two brothers-in-law Darrell Uselton, known as Mack or Uncle Mack as her boys always called him, and Marvin Gant, husband to her sister Charlene.

She is survived by her children Jeremiah Uselton and Joshua Uselton and one grandson Roston Cain Uselton, the son of Josh and his girlfriend Candy O’neal; her mother Mary Jane Bessinger and step-father Bill Bessinger of Guthrie; four sisters Charlene Gant of Oklahoma City, OK, Darlene Wright of Simi Valley, CA, Kathy Arrieta of Brooklyn, NY, and Michelle Leach of Perry, OK; three brothers-in-law Frank Uselton of Edmond, OK, Jack Uselton of Lake Livingston, TX, and Ken Uselton of Edmond; two sisters-in-law,Johnnie Bross and Joyce Carter both of Guthrie; close friends Jennifer Doll, Debbie Longnecker ,and Fay Buzzell; nieces Angie Uselton and Laurie Matthews; nephews Frankie Bross, Tommy Bross, and Kenny Gant; and Kirk Osborn, Kenny Ray Monden, Scott Smith, Darren Smedley, Charles Gilpin, and Glen Kordis whom she saw as her boys as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at First Christian Church, Guthrie with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating. Interment will follow at Seward Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
