Jerome D. Simpson

Born: September 25, 1934
Died: April 25, 2015

Jerome Dean Simpson, 80, of Oklahoma City, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Jerome was born on September 25, 1934 at his parents’ home in rural Logan County, Oklahoma. His parents were John Butler, Sr. and Selma Theresa Willamina (Bohlken) Simpson.

He is survived by his two sons: Richard and wife Shana of Cibolo, Texas and Jason Simpson of Oklahoma City. He has three granddaughters: Kristin Nicole Simpson of Cibolo, Texas, Kacie Alexis Simpson of Dallas, Texas, and Kendall Karie Simpson of Cibolo, Texas.

Jerome was a champion for the poor and served faithfully alongside others helping the homeless community in Oklahoma City. His great joys in life were his sons and spending time with them, cheering on the Oklahoma Sooner Football team and the St. Louis Cardinals, along with playing bridge and other card games with friends and family. Jerome held a Master’s Degree in Library Science for the blind librarian.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Waterloo Road Baptist Church near Guthrie, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Seward Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Donations in his name may be made to the Jesus House or the Salvation Army shelters in Oklahoma City.
