Funeral services for Mattie "Vandie" Katrina Blakesley, 91, of Guthrie, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at West Guthrie United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Wray officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Mulhall, Okla., under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Guthrie.
Vandie was born on March 26, 1909 in Gracement, Okla., to Charles and Mattie Vandeventer. She died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at Cole's Rest Haven in Guthrie.
She was a member of the West Guthrie United Methodist Church. She graduated from the Methodist Hospital School for Nursing Sept. 19, 1931.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Earl Allen and wife Juanita, William Allen and wife Mary, Melba Edwards and husband Carl, all of Gracement, Okla.; Shirley Morgan of Garden Grove, Calif.; Blanche Hill of Guthrie; Patsy Allen of Stillwater; Nolene Connors of Rockwall, Texas; Chuck Faulkner of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Carolyn Hirschi and husband Bruce of Sanger, Texas; William Dale Faulkner of Arkansas City, Kan.; Virginia Allen of Boulder City, Nev.; and her close neighbors and friends, Robert and Pat Ball; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Earl Blakesley in 1953; one brother, Vernie Vandeventer; and one sister, Leona Allen.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home Tuesday until 8 p.m.
