George O. Davis
(December 6, 1921 - October 20, 2013)

George Oliver Davis, resident of Lovell, passed away October 20th, 2013 at the age of 91.

George was born on December 6, 1921 in Lovell, OK. He graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1941. At the age of 17 he met the love of his life, Evelyn Louise Sartain. They married on September 7, 1943 and lived the rest of their days on their farm in Lovell. George worked for Logan County for nearly 40 years while farming to make a good life for his family. He was a loving husband and father and was cherished by his grandchildren. He leaves behind thousands of unforgettable moments playing Rummy and Pitch with his family. In his free time, George found great joy in driving his tractor and RTV and vacationing in Branson.

George entered the U.S. Army on Dec 10, 1942. He was Sergeant in Reconnaissance N.C.O., served as squadron leader, and also as an armored car commander. He received 2 Bronze Stars, an American Theater Ribbon, and a World War II Victory metal. George was discharged on Nov 21, 1945.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Evelyn; daughters Glenda Sue Shafer and her husband Roy of Ponca City, and Linda Jean Beard and husband Richard of Oklahoma City, OK; He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brian Shafer and wife Kimber of Cashion, OK, Stacy Hillhouse and husband Clay of Austin, TX, Travis Boxley and wife Heather of Helena, MO, and Jim Gorre of Enid, OK; as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milt and Emma Davis; grandson, Kelly Gorre, and brother, Max Davis.

The graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday Oct 23 at Oakview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
