Bette Lee Carmichael
(September 29, 1925 - February 21, 2011)

Bette Lee (Steen) Carmichael was born September 29, 1925 in Dover, Oklahoma to Harlan and Elva (Franz) Steen. She passed away February 21, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years.

Bette was born and raised in Dover and graduated from Dover High School in 1943. She then went to work at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Crescent, where she met Elmer Carmichael. Bette and Elmer were married March 27, 1945 in Crescent. She also worked at the Logan County Court Clerks Office, Chevrolet Garage in Crescent as a book keeper, and was a dedicated housewife. Her hobbies were sewing and quilting. She made quilts for all the grandkids and great grandkids.

Survivors include her husband Elmer of the home; two daughters, Debbie Rice and husband Jerry of Boise City, OK and Becky Carmichael of Oklahoma City; one brother, John Steen and wife Annamae of Crescent; granddaughter, Amy Cornforth and husband Tony; great grandchildren, Emily, Aubrey, and Katy Cornforth; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Vera Martin, Zelma Walta, and Edna Carmichael, one brother, Everett Steen, and by a grandson, Aaron Rice.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 25, 2011 graveside at Oakland-Knowles Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Rice and Dr. Dennis Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to Mercy Hospice or a charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
