Samuel James Kinney
Born: March 23, 1930
Died: August 08, 2010

Samuel J. Kinney, 80, born March 23, 1930, passed from this life August 8, 2010, and entered the Eternal life prepared for him by his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sam was born in Coyle, OK, and as an infant suffered a debilitating seizure which left him permanently paralyzed and crippled for the remainder of his life. Sam and his family were members of the Coyle Christian Church. He was able to work his way through the Coyle School with much difficulty because of his impairment.

After staying at the home farm for many years, Sam became a resident of the Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie, OK. He later moved to the Edwards Redeemer Home in Oklahoma City, OK, and finished out his life at the Buena Vista Nursing Home in Midwest City. He became a member of the Mimosa Heights Christian Church, where he made many friends who were willing to provide transportation and meet his special needs.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents John G. and Iva Kinney; two brothers Earl Kinney and Orval Kinney; three sisters Helen Rader, Lou Emma Moorman, and Bessie Moss; and one nephew.

Surviving him are eight nephews and three nieces.

Sam will be remembered for his humor, his recall of events of long ago, and yes, his stubbornness. But Sam never felt sorry for himself, never expressed depression because of his inability to do normal things, never complained about the leg that would not work, or the clinched fist that never opened. He was always ready to make new friends, hear a joke and pass it on, and ready to struggle to get in someone’s car and go someplace - anyplace.

Jesus said, "Behold, I make all things new." Now Sam has a new body, without the useless leg, the useless hand, and now able to enjoy, without limitations, the Eternal life that God has prepared for all of His people.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at Coyle Christian Church with Pastor Casey Lehman of New Fellowship Church of Choctaw, OK officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Coyle. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
