Ava Cecile Berkheiser
Born: June 11, 1948
Died: August 11, 2014

Ava Cecile Berkheiser, 66, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away August 11, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City with her family by her side.

She was born in Ames, Iowa, on June 11, 1948, to Alvin and Anna Dale. She graduated from West Lafayette High School in West Lafayette, Indiana, and received a degree in Speech Therapy from Purdue University. She married Vaughn Elwood Berkheiser on August 19, 1972.

With her husband, Ava raised three girls, spending her days being a loving homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and antique shopping. She was a member of the First Capital Quilt Guild, but her grandchildren were her ultimate joy. She loved attending their football, baseball, basketball, and soccer games and never quit bragging about them.

Ava is survived by her husband Vaughn; brother Alan (Joyce) Dale; sister Alice (Michael) Thomason; daughters Shauna (Ryan) Suntken, Danielle (Cody) Palmer, and Emily Berkheiser; grandchildren Hunter Suntken, Jack Suntken, Ethan Suntken, and Ella Suntken; and many other loving family members and friends.

Ava is preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Anna Dale and her sister Anita Dale.

A public viewing service will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, at the Smith-Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 15, at Lawrie Cemetery with services under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
