Donald Miller Hoffman

The funeral for Donald Miller Hoffman, 88, of Ardmore, formerly of Crescent , will be 2 p.m Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, Crescent . Keith Gordon, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Crescent Cemetery . Arrangements are by Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home, Crescent .

He was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, to Rev. Jason and Emma Reppert Hoffman and died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, in Ardmore.

In 1926, the family moved to West Concord, Minn., where he graduated from Wabasha High School in 1938. After graduation he moved with his family to Marshall. He married Clarice Cassidy May 30, 1942.

He joined the Army Air Corps in Sept. 1942, and was stationed in various islands in the South Pacific during World War II. They moved to Crescent in 1946, where he owned the hatchery and feed store and later the Western Auto Store. He was a former mayor and volunteer fireman. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one son, Alan Hoffman of Ardmore; one daughter, Joyce Sanford of Edmond; three brothers, Roland of Oklahoma City, Earl of Grants Pass, Ore., and Richard of Cottage Grove, Ore.; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice, and two sisters.
