Jean R. Heimbaugh

Jean Reuben Heimbaugh was born in Sedan, Kansas Feb. 22, 1906. His family moved to Crescent, Ok. (approx.) in 1919. They farmed 1 mile north of the cemetery in Crescent. He attended school in Crescent and played football when in High School. He married Ethel Belch of Crescent in 1938. They had no children. He worked for Standard Oil of Louisana in Baton, Rouge La. and on Feb. 1943 he enlisted in the armed forces serving in the Seabees on a rhino landing barge. He was at Okinawa and the Normandy invasion. He was discharged from the service in Nov. 1945. Upon returning to Baton Rouge La. he went back to work in the refinery for Standard Oil of Louisana, now Exxon, retiring in (approx)1978. He and his wife moved to Sequim, Wa. He lived there until her death and then moved to Glendive, Mt. in 1989, where he lived with his sister, Ruth (Heimbaugh) Stoltz. Jean died in 1993 and is buried in the Crescent cemetery with his wife Ethel. He was a long time member of the Masons and Shriners. He was very active in these organizations. He loved fishing and telling about hunting ducks on the Cimmaron River by Crescent.
