Madean Cox
(December 10, 1916 - July 18, 2010)

Madean Cox was born to Joseph Franklin and May Stanfill on December 10, 1919 in Kingfisher County, OK. After graduating from Crescent High School, she married Leonard M. Cox on September 5, 1936. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Madean owned and operated a café in Crescent for 11 years, but later worked at Food Locker and at the local nursing home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Cox in 1982, her father in 1965, mother in 1967, brother Billy Joel in 1942, brother Leo in 1986, daughter Kathryn May in 1984, and daughter Judith Ann in 1998.

She is survived by her daughter, Betta Faye McClarney, son-in-law, Don McClarney, and by eight grandchildren, Richard Gross of North Carolina, Bryan Gross of Crescent, Rick Springer of South Carolina, Mark Springer of Virginia, Dan McClarney of Purcell, Dana Yount of Macomb, Dawna Rodgers of Bethel, Kevin Dyer of Okla. City, Roy Pitchford of Mustand, and Retha James of Okla. City; seventeen great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

After living 63 years in Crescent, she moved alongside her daughter Betta in Macomb for nine years. She returned to Crescent where she lived in the Crescent Care Center before moving into Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell.

Madean passed away on July 18, 2010. She loved all of her family with amazing love and she kept the faith until her passing. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Crescent with Pastor Keith Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery.
