Gladys Mae Cox
(May 21, 1923 - January 15, 2013)

Gladys Mae Stewart Cox was born May 21, 1923 east of Crescent, Oklahoma to Albert and Annis May (Hollingsworth) Stewart. She passed away January 15, 2013 in Crescent, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years.

Gladys spent the majority of her life in this area with her husband Charles Cox, Jr. by her side. They enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, raising bees, strawberries and dewberries. She loved to cook, make pies, and can food and jelly. Gladys loved to go hunting and fishing with Charles, she didn’t really like to hunt or fish but enjoyed her time with him. Later in life they bought an RV and would travel around and attend various Bluegrass Festivals.

Survivors include five daughters, Judy Darden and husband Jim of Clifton, CO, Millie Kidwell and husband Thomas of Pasco, WA, Helen Rancitelli and husband Lou of Columbus, OH, Carolyn Roten and husband Bill of Owasso, OK, and Charlene Baham and husband Sherman of Zachery, LA; one son, Charles Allen Cox and wife Wanda of Zachary, LA; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Charles, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 19, 2012 graveside at the Crescent Cemetery with Gene Owen officiating. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to Companion Hospice in Guthrie.
