Charles Cox, Jr.
(April 30, 1923 - April 8, 2010)

Charles Cox, Jr. was born April 30, 1923 in Crescent, Oklahoma to Charley Henry and Ethel Claire (Shafer) Cox. He passed away April 8, 2010 at his home in Crescent, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years.

Jr. was a lifelong resident of Crescent and retired employee of Eason Oil Company. He was known for his picture perfect gardens and beautiful strawberries. Jr. was a curious kid at heart. An inventor of curious contraptions and woodwork. He liked to make crafts or yard ornaments and give them to family and friends. He was a quiet, loving, and good man. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include, loving wife, Gladys of the home; one son, Charles Allen Cox and wife Wanda of Zachary, Louisiana; two daughters, Charlene Baham and husband Sherman of Zachary, Louisiana and Carolyn Roten and husband Bill of Owasso, Oklahoma; three step daughters, Judy Dardin and husband Jim of Grand Junction, Colorado, Millie Kidwell and husband Thomas of Washington, and Helen Rancini and husband Lou of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Dana Roten Hornbeck of Crescent, Tia Swan Clark of Midland, Texas, Charles Christian Cox of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Jaimie Lowry Burnett of Bettendorf, Iowa; seven step grandchildren; six great grandchildren, Dawson Hornbeck, Cohen and Celie Clark, Brooklyn, Rylan, and Emmanuel; one sister, Alta Roberts; four sister-in-laws, Madean Cox, Nellie Stewart, Norma Cox, and Mary Cox; two special brother-in-laws, George Wright and Fred Stewart. Many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Chester Morris Cox, granddaughter, Stephanie Diane Smith, brothers, Orval, Leonard, Wayne, Vern, David and Bill; sisters, Bernice Lambert, Ava Acton, Mary Richards, and Alta Roberts

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Abernathy Aaron Chapel with Gene Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial be made to Companion Hospice in Guthrie, OK.
