John Winston Waller

July 30, 1943 - September 30, 2018

John Winston Waller, age 75, passed on to heaven, Sunday, September 30, 2018, unexpectedly. He was born to the late Earl Otis Waller and Susie Matilda Waller in their home on July 30, 1943, in Cushing, Oklahoma.

John attended Stroud Public Schools where he graduated in 1961. After high school, he attended the University of Central Oklahoma before beginning work at Allied Refinery in Stroud. John was a proud member of the Oklahoma 45th Army and Air Force Nation Guard for six years where he qualified as a Sharpshooter Rifleman with a 30 caliber M1 Garand and was honorably discharged in1971. John was a hard worker and was admired by his co-workers at Sun Oil Company (various locations), KwikSet, and Sax N Fox Nation. Before retiring he ran his own oil field contract pumping service - John Waller Contract Pumping. If you needed it fixed, John was the man to call.

After a brief courtship, he married Linda Faye Moore. John and Linda enjoyed raising two wonderful children, Steven Edward Waller and Deborah (Debbie) Lynn Wedding. They have two grandchildren, Samatha Waller and Preston Hodge. John and Linda shared their love with everyone they met.

He was dedicated to his family, friends, and community. This dedication was expressed by the loving care he took of his mother, Susie, prior to her passing as well as Linda’s parents. John was very active in his community in his gentle and quiet way. He was active in several community organizations including proudly serving as a member of the Stroud Public School Board form 1981-1985, Boy Scout Master in Laverne, OK, and Boy Scout Board of Review in Ada, OK. Most recently, he was a volunteer worker at the Stroud Food Pantry, served on the board of Stroud Planning Commission, and member and Deacon at the Stroud Christian Church. He loved to fish, help in the community garden, buy and sell cars/boats, and spend time with his friends.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Linda, children Steve and Marnie Waller of Tulsa, and Debbie and Ken Wedding, Appleton, WI. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Samantha Waller of Stroud, and Preston Hodge of Chickasha. John is survived by his brothers Bill and Yvonne of Roscoe, PA, Jim of Oklahoma City, niece, Alice Ward of Yukon, OK, and brother in law, Eddie Moore of Stroud, Ok. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Susan Renea, and one sister Vivian Martin. John was a loving husband, friend, parent, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He had a sharp sense of humor that could sneak up on the unexpecting friend. John was a kind man that put others before himself. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

A memorial graveside service will be held at the Stroud Cemetery on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Paul Ragel and Pastor James Bond officiating. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to Julie Bivins, their dearest friends, Beta Sigma Phi sisters, and church family for providing such loving support during our time of need. The support of loving friends and community members mean the world to us.
