Willa Margueritte Hollon passed away on February 3, 2019 in Andrews, Texas. Margueritte was born in Stroud, Oklahoma on July 30, 1923 to Ralph and Ida Ann Lefler Newman who preceded her in death.

She was married to Troy B. Hollon, September 24, 1945 in Pampa, TX. Her husband, known as “Buck,” preceded her in death on June 28, 2001, as did infant daughter Linda Yvonne in 1946.

Margueritte was a licensed vocational nurse in her professional career. She had a flair for the artistic and she became an accomplished china artist in later life, firing her own pieces and painting them with landscapes and flowers. She explored the countryside around Andrews, Texas to mentally collect landscape scenes and she became an avid collector of Native American art and artifacts. She was an accomplished seamstress as well.

She was a long time member of the Church of Christ and was an active participant in Stroud, Oklahoma and in later life in Andrews, Texas where she and daughter Marilyn lived at the time of her death.

Known as Maggie to friends and family, she radiated a vibrant personality with a wicked sense of humor. She wrote a note to her funeral director: “Put a smile on my face! Plus, how about some eyelashes? No chin whiskers! Love, Maggie.”

She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Sinclair of Andrews, TX, and sons and their spouses Larry and Sharon Hollon, Nashville, TN, and Richard and Sally Hollon, Brownwood, TX. She was preceded in death by brothers Lester, Delbert, Merle and Donald Newman in addition to infant twin brothers; sisters Naomi Brown, Vesta Davis, Juanita Newman and infant twin sisters; grandson Matthew Hollon and niece Carolyn Henderson.

She had eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Her wit and humor will be greatly missed by her many remaining family members.

Graveside services will be Friday, February 8, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Stroud Cemetery, Stroud Oklahoma with Jerry Medders officiating. Service under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service Stroud.
