Douglas Ben Castleberry Sr, loving husband and father, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the age of 63. Doug was born on October 18, 1956 in Cushing, OK to Charles and Etta (Winkleman) Castleberry. He grew up in Stroud, OK and graduated from Davenport High School in 1974. On May 30, 1975, he married his high school sweetheart, Susan Bilyeu. They raised a son, Douglas, and daughter, Melody.

They settled in Perry, OK where Doug worked for Ditch Witch for over 30 years. After his retirement, he and Susan moved to the family farm to be closer to his parents. There they farmed cattle and helped his parents in any way they could.

Doug enjoyed coaching his kids in the various sports they played. He and the family spent several weekends camping and fishing at Keystone Lake with his parents. Some of his happiest times were spent running trot lines or jugs on the pontoon boat. Doug and his dad Charles cleaned countless pounds of catfish while Susan and his mom, Etta got it ready for the freezer. One of Doug’s favorite pastimes was playing horseshoes with friends in the Davenport alumni horseshoe tournament.

Doug loved his family fiercely. He was the kind of husband and father that told his wife and kids he loved them every chance he got. He was also extraordinarily kind and generously provided for his family. He was a loving husband, a doting father, and a proud Papa.

He is preceded in death by his father Charles Castleberry and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Douglas Castleberry (Allison); daughter, Melody Edwards (Steve); sisters, Charla Owens (John) and Linda Moring (Herb); brothers, Gerry Castleberry (Alice), Alan Castleberry (Tina), and Charles Castleberry Jr.; grandson, Tristan Castleberry; granddaughter, Katie Koehl, grandson, Miles Edwards, and granddaughter, Savana Edwards; and mother, Etta Castleberry. He has five great-grandchildren, Haivyn, Hayzlie, Summit, Amiyah, and Kayleigh.

Doug will be laid to rest at Stroud Cemetery near his dad and grandparents in a private ceremony. Please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in his name.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.

Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.dightonmarler.com
