RUTH MILDRED SMITH

Ruth Mildred Smith was born on December 25, 1918, in Mountainburg, Arkansas, and departed this life on Thursday, April 13, 2017, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 98.

Ruth, the daughter of Luther Jackson and Ida Elmyra (Dyer) Creekmore, was a resident of Shawnee. She married Ray Smith on July 20, 1937 in Mountainburg. Ruth was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II at Boeing in Wichita, KS and moved to Prague in 1951. She owned and operated OTASCO until 1976. After the sale of OTASCO Ruth and Ray opened Ray’s Furniture Store in 1978. She loved going to the lake and spending time at Lake Eufaula. Ruth was an artist and enjoyed painting. She was a member of the Prague Art Guild, Federated Arts, Eastern Star and Business Professional Women. Ruth loved birds and polka dancing.

Ruth’s parents, husband, daughter, Charlsie Lee Smith, brothers, Hadley Creekmore and Alvin Creekmore preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughter, Pattie Rae Smith of Shawnee; grandchildren, Glenda Kerbo of Shawnee, Robin Ueltzen of Shawnee, Justin Burch of South Hadley, MA, Angela Smith of Pace, Florida; great-grandchildren, Preslei Smtih, Rylun Smith, Jaylon Smith, Atticus Smith, Ryan Linkous, Lindsey O’Dell, Kyle Ueltzen and Tara Henso; great-great grandchildren, Trenton Ueltzen, Braden Ueltzen, Lyla Ueltzen, Kolton Barnell, Scarlett Barnell, Roman Henson, Ella Henson, Easton O’Dell, Mason O’Dell, Seth Linkous and Ivy Linkous and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Pastor Ken Kerbo officiating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery.
