Albert Wayne Opela, 82, of Prague Oklahoma departed this world May 31, 2018 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Oklahoma City.

Wayne was born December 6th, 1934 in Whiteface, Texas to Frank and Lillie (Olsovsky) Opela. Wayne was a graduate of Prague High School with the class of 1953. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prague and a member of the Wolf Lodge. Wayne worked for G.P.& H. Equipment Company. In 1955 he was employed by the Oklahoma Highway Department, survey division and in 1967 he purchased Prague Ditching Services which he later sold in 1969. He established Mid-State Survey Company as a registered land surveyor. Later he was employed by the Wolverine Copper Tube Company from 1976 until he retired in 1988.

Wayne met and married Wilma Jean McCrackin in Claremore, Oklahoma, 1958-1978. To this union were born three sons. The couple followed the Highway Department for the first few years of their marriage until returning to Prague. He helped map many of the current highways across Oklahoma.

Running the juglines at Lake Eufaula with close friends and family was something he always looked forward to, Wayne was known to provide fish for everyone. Following retirement, he enjoyed working on and selling farm equipment. In recent years he really enjoyed visits from friends and a friendly game of Wahoo.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lillie; brother, Wesley Opela and son, Doyle Wayne Opela.

He is survived by two brothers, George (Jean) Opela, and Jerry (Nancy) Opela of Prague, Oklahoma. Two sons Dexter Wayne (Sammye) Opela, of Columbus Kansas and Michael Wayne Opela, of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren, Chad Michael (Nicole) Opela, Holden, Missouri; Krista Denise (Mike) Hulsey, Hockley, Texas and Colton Doyle Opela, Columbus, Kansas. And four great-grandchildren, Madison Lanae Hulsey, Kaleb Michael Hulsey, Hockley, Texas; Aspen Marie Opela and Sage Denise Opela, Holden Missouri.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4th, at the First Baptist Church, Prague, Oklahoma.

Arrangement are under the direction of Parks Brother’s Funeral Service of Prague.
