Mary Ellen Nottnagel, 87, of Paden, went to be with The Lord on July 2, 2019. Mary was born on February 9, 1932 in Cement, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Edward John and Ida Lee (Welch) Bynum. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and will be missed by many.

While Mary was born in Cement, she moved with her family to California at the age of 5. The family moved to escape the dust bowl just like those in the Grapes of Wrath. While in California, Mary attended Chowchilla Union High School. In 1972, Mary made her way back to Oklahoma and settled in Paden. Mary was happily married to Donald Nottnagel until his death in 1991.

Mary was strong in her faith and loved the opportunity to help others get closer to the God she so loved. She always made sure her children and grandchildren had Bibles. The Bibles she gifted were often personalized with their names engraved on the cover. Mary also had a deep love for her children and her grandchildren.

Mary had a love for dogs, she always seemed to have a dog around. She loved to crotchet and to quilt but perhaps her favorite hobby was to go “garage sale-ing.” Garage sale days were considered to be holidays around her house. Mary also co-owned the Melon Patch in Prague from 1993 to 2013. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Nottnagel and one son, Ronald Nottnagel.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Donna Rae Miller and husband, Robert and Kathy Elias; and three sons David Nottnagel and wife Carol, Jerry Nottnagel and wife Yvonne, and Larry Nottnagel and wife Gerri. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and one special friend named Phillip.

A Graveside Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Prague Cemetery. The family will accept visitors on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service. An online guestbook is available at www.parksbrothers.net.
