Ronald L. Maier

Ronald L. "Red" Maier was born February 12, 1923, in Crandon, Wisconsin to Richard A. and Eva Maier.

He graduated from Salina High School, Salina, Kansas, with the class of '41, and graduated with honors from American Aeronautical Institute in Kansas City, Missouri.

He worked the early part of WWII for Northwest Airlines in the MATS Division, stationed in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada. He moved to Oklahoma City in December 1948, with his wife and two children. He was a full member of The Society of Automotive Engineers, president of The Oklahoma Radio Kontrol Society, and was an avid flyer of radio controlled model airplanes.

He and his wife joined The Sooner State Morgan Horse Association in 976 and he later served as president and publicity director.

Ron became a Roman Catholic while serving in the U. S. Navy. He rededicated his life to the Lord in 1985 and has served Him faithfully. He was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler, Oklahoma and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delphine; and brother, Richard.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy; children, Jacqueline Brandshaw, Sallie Stas, Christie Patric and husband Bill, Patrick Maier and Lisa, Susie Adlamini and husband Siamak, Michael Maier and wife Pat, Judy Lynn McAtee and husband Lloyd, Sherri Johnson and husband Larry, and Jack and Linda Shepherd; nineteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

A prayer vigil was held Tuesday, February 11, at Memorial Park Historical Cemetery Chapel, Oklahoma City. Mass of Christian burial was February 12, 2014, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Chandler, Oklahoma, with interment at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery.
