DOROTHY MURRAY

July 14, 1933 - October 1, 2017

Dorothy Fern Murray, Chandler, Oklahoma resident was born July 14, 1933, in Hollis, Oklahoma. She passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017, in Chandler, at the age of 84 years.

Dorothy was the daughter of Leonard and Maud (Bell) Scott. She grew up in the Hollis area attending Ron Public School, and graduated from Hollis High School. Dorothy married Douglas C. "Doug" Murray on August 17, 1950, in Hollis, Oklahoma. They lived in Florida while Doug served in the United States Air Force, they also lived in Louisiana. Once Doug was discharged from the Air Force, he started his career with Phillips 66 and they lived in several towns before settling in Chandler. Doug preceded her in death on September 13, 2013. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Central Church of Christ.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Travis Scott, and Judge Scott; and two sisters, Vernelle Williams, and Madeline Carter.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Slayton and husband Ron of Chandler, and Kim Rackley and husband Rick of Chandler; seven grandchildren; sixteen great- grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, with Troy German officiating.
