Hattie Mae Lacy Bryant

Funeral services for Hattie Mae Lacy Bryant will be Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Chandler, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, Oklahoma. Wake services will be Thursday, January 10th – 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Mt. Calvary First Baptist Church, Chandler, Oklahoma.

Hattie Bryant was born September 2, 1917 to John and Ary (Land) Lacy, South of Chandler, Oklahoma. Hattie was the sixth child of ten siblings. At an early age she was a member of the Little Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of her father Reverend John Lacy.

In early years she married Ira Talley, the marriage was dismissed. During her travels wherever she made her home she attended church services, Seattle Washington and San Diego, California. She later married Troy Bryant of Chandler.

Mrs. Hattie was a babysitter, caretaker, she had a foster home, and she also helped raise her grandson Russell Johnson. She taught bible lessons in her home and she also taught many children in her neighborhood about God and church songs. She was alone in her church at Mt. Calvary First Baptist Church when no one else attended for a while, singing and praising the Lord. Mrs. Hattie was a good soloist for her church.

She was a member of the Mt. Calvary First Baptist Church, the Citizens for the Improvement of Chandler (C.I.C.), Chandler Community Club #1, and she also donated to the Chosen House. She wrote many Resolutions for her church. She was also Mother of her Church, the Mt. Calvary First Baptist Church members Crown her Queen of the Church on Sunday, April 8, 2017.

The was proceeded in death by her husband Troy Bryant, her parents John and Ary Lacy, her six brothers; Walter, John Jr., Oscar, Frank, Alfred and Monroe Lacy. Her two sisters: Lizzette Lacy-Kyle; and Julia Lacy- Daniels.

Hattie leaves to cherish her joyful memories and her legacy: To her loving daughter Irene Lewis of the home; her loving grandchildren, Russell Johnson (Sandra) of Long Beach, CA; Lonnie Smith (Barbie) of Atoka, OK; Michael Lewis (Renita) of Eastvale, CA; Nannette Lewis and Waymon Lewis, Jr., both of Moreno Valley, CA; one sister Mattie Lacy-Dailey of Berkley, CA; (twenty) great grandchildren; (eight) great-great- grandchildren and (two) great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of other Godchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
