Thomas Jefferson Campbell

Jeff Campbell was born to Barthena {Scott} and William Seymour "Seymour" Campbell. He had three brothers: William C., Anderson T. and David F. I have no information on any of his brothers except William C. who married Sarah Elizabeth Webb and died in Howell County, Missouri, in about 1870. William C. had two children: William L. "Billy" Campbell and Frances Louise "Fanny" Campbell Thompson.

Jeff served as a Confederate soldier during the Civil War in the First Tennessee {Carter's} Cavalry, Company L as a private and a "musition" as noted in his war record. Family history says he was a drummer boy. His record shows that he was a bugler also. He was just 15 years old when the war began.

Jeff married Theresa Ann Francis Richey, daughter of Elizabeth Francis {Hale} Richey and Sanford Richey, on August 23, 1864 in Harrison, Hamilton county, Tennessee.

Sometime after the War ended, he and his wife, along with several other family members, left Tennessee by wagon train. They settled at Buffalo, the county seat of Dallas county, Missouri, where other family members were already living. In 1907 they sold their farm and moved closer to their oldest son Billy who was living at Chandler in Lincoln county, Oklahoma.

Thomas Jefferson became ill at Billy's house in the early part of 1910 and died at Chandler.
