Esther G. Lokey

Lifelong area resident Esther G. Lokey of Shawnee died Saturday in Bartlesville. She was 85.

She was born September 1, 1912, in Meeker, the daughter of Arthur Bell and Elizabeth {Poplin} Akins.

She graduated from Meeker High School.

She married Oland W. Lokey in Texas on August 11, 1954.

She was a member of Hazel Dell Baptist Church, served as senator in the Oklahoma Silver-Haired Legislature, was chairman of the board of Senior Citizens of Shawnee, Inc., past chapter president of AARP and member of RSVP.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Nance Allen, Bartlesville; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Terry Don and Jackie Allen, Seminole; two great-granddaughters and many other relatives.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and two brothers.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Monte Campbell and the Rev. Ellis Risenhoover officiating.

Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery.
