ARTHUR "SOG" WILLIS

12 Jul 1931 - 24 Feb 2017

Arthur “Sog” Willis was born on July 12, 1931, in Welling, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, February 24, 2017, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.

Sog, the son of Grover and Charity (Wright) Willis, was a resident of Meeker. He married Betty Willis on May 13, 1950 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. After her death, he married Effie (Buoy) Walker on July 29, 2014. Sog worked as a truck driver for several companies. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Meeker. Sog enjoyed farming, fishing, gardening and spending time with family.

Sog’s wife, Betty; son, Mike; daughter, Nita; parents, Grover and Charity Willis; two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of two years, Effie Willis of Meeker; daughters and son-in-law, Katherine Gouker of Prague and Joyce Flowers of Meeker; step-children and spouses, Eddie and Sue Walker of Meeker and Gloria and Joe Judd of Meeker; brothers, Bill Willis of Blackgum, John Willis of Pineville, MO, Lonzo Willis of Cookson, and Paul Willis of Shawnee; sister, Leona Eidson of Berryhill; grandchildren, Lucretia Cornelius of Meeker, Tom and Robyn Miller of Meeker, Cheryl and David Dickson of Meeker, Reagan and Kevin Carrera of Shawnee, Melissa and Steve Holson of Owasso, Jeremy and Crystal Flowers of Shawnee, Jeff and Charity Walker of Del City, Kim and Larry Blades of Meeker; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM, at Mammoth Baptist Church in Meeker with Rev. Mike Hazelwood and Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
