LORENE GARNER YOUNG
1915 - 2008


Lorene Hopkins Young was born on January 16, 1915, in Prague, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, February 29, 2008, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 93.
Lorene, the daughter of Samuel Hopkins and Roxie Ethel Hobbs Thompson, was a life-long resident of Prague.
She graduated from Prague High School with the class of 1932 and received her teacher's degree from Central State College.
She married Harold Garner on May 3, 1936. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1957.
Lorene married Silas W. Young on November 4, 1968. He also preceded her in death on July 9, 1986.
Lorene worked as a clerk at Sharpe's for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prague.
Her parents and one brother, Onis Thompson, also preceded Lorene in death.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Betty Garner of Prague, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James "Butch" Terrell of Prague, step-daughter, Freda Collins of Shawnee, sisters and brother-in-law, Edna Mae Marsh of Prague, Kathleen and Glenn Hecker of Prague, sister-in-law, Juanita Coffey and her husband, Vincent, of Prague, seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague on Sunday, March 2, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
