MORENE RUTH WILLIAMS
1918 - 2016


Morene Ruth Cox Williams, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at her residence at the age of 97 years.
The daughter of the late Orpha L. Cox and Lillian R. Kaufman Cox, Morene was born on April 27, 1918 in Ripley, Oklahoma. She was raised and educated in the Ripley community by her grandparents, R.W. and Lillie Kaufman.
She was united in marriage to Louis Albert Williams on December 22, 1933 in the Big Creek Church of the Brethren. To this union four children, Al, Kay, Judy and Larry, were born.
The couple had operated the family dairy farm for several years, later running the Cushing Cafe.
Louis preceded her in death on April 16, 1976.
Morene was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
She was a very good seamstress and for many years made all the clothing for her children. She enjoyed quilting, ceramics and taking care of her family in any way she could. She also enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She was a recipient of the Oklahoma Golden Thimble award.
Morene will be remembered for the wedding cakes she made and for the many lessons she provided in teaching her children how to dance.
She is survived by her children, Al and Bonnie Williams of Cushing, Kay and Kenneth Boyd of Ripley, Judy and John Sheridan of Cushing and Dr. Larry and Pam Williams of Tulsa; one brother Wayne Dennis of Ripley; nineteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Cox; two sisters, Wilma Dooley and Irene King, two grandsons, Barry Williams and Michael Eubank and one great-granddaughter, Brandi Hensley.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Robert Adams, Pastor John Holderread and Pastor Natalie Bell officiating.
Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 6400 S. Lewis Suite 1000, Tulsa Oklahoma 74136 or to the church of your choice.
