ELDON LOUIS WHITNAH
1932 - 2012


Eldon Louis Whitnah was born September 15, 1932, the youngest son of Louis and Emma Whitnah and passed away Monday February 27, 2012 in Wellston at the age of 79.
He attended Choctaw School until 11th grade and joined the U. S. Navy in 1952. He had basic training at Great Lakes Training Station in Rhode Island where he served his term receiving an honorable discharge in 1954.
He then entered Oklahoma Tech in Okmulgee in the plumbing trade in 1955 graduating in 1957 having received special recognition while in school. Eldon was a member of the Plumber’s Local 344 for 54 years.
He and his middle son, Paul, started Whitnah Construction Contractors and built Electrical Substations until retiring in 1994.
Eldon met Pauline Stein on October 5, 1957 and later married July 12, 1958 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellston.
They then moved to Manhattan, Kansas where Eldon was working. In two months they moved to Emporia, Kansas where they lived until January 1961.
They moved to Midwest City and later purchased a farm in Wellston in 1970 where Eldon farmed raising wheat, hay and cattle.
Eldon was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. He has been a deacon and teacher at the Wellston First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School Classes at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Emma and brother, Bill Whitnah.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline of the home; three sons, Ron and wife Shelly Whitnah; Paul and wife Stacie Whitnah; Wade and wife Dianne Whitnah all of Wellston; eleven grandchildren, Kerry and his daughter Ryann of Coyle; Chad and Heather, Colton, Callan and Camden of Wellston; Matt and Ashley, Maddox and Kaiden of Wellston; Shelby, Delaney and Chisum of Wellston; Dustin, Aimee, and Allen of Joplin; Lucas, Gina, Allen, Cooper, Noah and Emery of Wellston; sister Lorene and husband Calvin Baker of Harrah; brother Cliff and wife Bessie of Choctaw.
The Whitnah family will be present at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. to welcome friends for a reception.
Funeral service for Eldon is 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Wellston with interment following in the Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
