MELVIN WALTER WANT
1927 - 2011


Melvin Walter Want was born October 20, 1927 in Omega, Oklahoma, the only child of Kenneth Walter and Mae Hamilton Want.
Melvin went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2011 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 83.
He grew up in the Hitchcock, Oklahoma area. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He married Beulah Mae Stingley of Wellston, Oklahoma on April 13, 1956 in Greenfield, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Wellston where they raised five children.
Melvin worked many years as a tire dealer in the Wellston and Chandler areas.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellston, the Wellston Masonic Lodge and Wellston Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents and one son, Kenneth Leslie Want.
He is survived by his daughters, Twila McLain and husband Alan; Dorothy Howell and husband Bill; Anita Davis and husband John all of Wellston; one son, Jeffery Want of Wellston; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Wellston with interment following at the Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home, Wellston.
