VERNA C. VAUGHAN
1917 - 2006


Verna C. Fritts Vaughan, known to her family and friends as “Nanny”, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 88 years.
The daughter of the late Nelson Fritts and Myrtle Zigler Fritts, Nanny was born on December 5, 1917 in Paden, Oklahoma and was reared and educated in the Prague and Paden areas, graduating from Paden High School.
She was united in marriage to Archie Vaughan on November 26, 1942 in Prague and to this union five children were born. Mr. Vaughan preceded her in death on April 18, 1984.
Nanny enjoyed quilting; fishing, gardening and going to various sporting events to watch her children and grandchildren participate.
Survivors include her children, Jack Vaughan and his wife Rose of Prague; Sharon Prewitt and her husband Tommy of Eufaula; Buddy Vaughan and his wife Sheryl of Cushing; and Freda Lile and her friend Richard Hildebrand of Cushing; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Vernon Vaughan; one infant brother; one infant sister; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Rossville Cemetery with Reverend Art Fox officiating.
