OTTMAN TROY TOLAND
1933 - 2015


Ottman Troy Toland, age 81 of Cushing, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Cushing, Oklahoma.
Troy was born on November 18, 1933 in Dewitt, Arkansas to the late Jim and Florence Watkins Toland.
He grew up in and received his education in Dewitt, Arkansas.
Troy moved to Cushing, Oklahoma as a young teenager. At the age of 21, he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia.
Soon after Troy met and married the love of his life, Nina Jean Stevens, on December 18, 1955. To this union two children were born, Chris and Lanita.
After being Honorably Discharged from the United States Army in 1957, Troy and Nina moved to Cushing, Oklahoma.
Troy moved his family to many places, Greenwood, Indiana and Corpus Christi, Texas just to name a few. Then finally moving back to Cushing, Oklahoma until his passing.
He enjoyed many things in life, bird hunting, fishing, and traveling, especially to the Colorado Camp meetings.
But his true love or passion was the word of God. Troy loved preaching to the world. His life was truly dedicated to the service of the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Nina Toland of the home; one son, Chris Toland of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one daughter, Lanita Shepherd and husband Travis of Spokane, Washington; seven grandchildren, Tyler Toland, Ashley Possin, Sierra Toland, Amy Bramante, Cassidy Toland, Alexis Shepherd and Alyssa Shepherd, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, J. D. Toland and Bob Toland; one infant brother, Harry Arnold; and one sister, Lavinia Wilkerson.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2015 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn Cushing, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Family will meet and greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
