1923 - 2015


Robert “Bob” Emra Teape was born on June 25, 1923, in Hobart, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 92.
Bob, the son of Emra Clifford and Genevieve Harris Teape, was a resident of Shawnee.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He married Peggy Starritt of Marietta in 1946 and they remained married until her death in 1993. They resided in Stillwater until Bob graduated from Oklahoma State University. In 1949, they returned to Prague. They had two sons, Robby and Chris.
After returning to Prague, Bob became a partner in Prague Motor Sales with his father, E.C. He operated the dealership until it was destroyed by fire in 1985. Bob’s sons joined him in the dealership for many years. In 1986, Bob and Robby owned and operated the Shawnee Lincoln Mercury dealership. In 1988, they bought the Seminole Ford-Mercury dealership and operated both dealerships until they were sold in 1994.
In 1995, Bob moved to Shawnee and was remarried in 1997 to Mary Kirk Walton of Shawnee. They remained married until her death in 2008.
Bob was very active in the community. He was a past member and chairman of the Prague Hospital Board, a past president of the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce and a long-time member and past president of the school board. Bob was also a founding member of the Prague Builders Association, a past board member and a president of the Board of the United Methodist Church. Most recently, before his health began to fail, Bob was a volunteer at the Shawnee Medical Center.
Bob’s parents, first wife, Peggy and second wife, Mary preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Robby Teape of Oklahoma City and Chris and Debbie Teape of Southlake, Texas, grandchildren, Trey Teape of Shawnee, Staci Lockhart of Norman, Christen White of Fort Worth, Texas, Britney Teape of Colleyville, Texas, Amanda Teape of Shawnee, Shelly Teape of Oklahoma City and Trevor Teape of Royce City, Texas, nine great grandchildren; sisters, Joanne Estes of Del City and Mary Pat Kahanek of Shawnee and other numerous family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Pastor Trey Teape officiating.
Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
