HAROLD ALLEN STUMP
1916 - 2009


Harold Allen Stump died October 7, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, Colorado.
He was born June 20, 1916, in Carney, Oklahoma, to Herman Stump and Amy Kate Wilcox.
He graduated from Carney High School and received a bachelor's degree from Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a major in mathematics and minors in biological and physical science. He was a man of many accomplishments. He was a school teacher, a roustabout, an airplane mechanic, owned a Mobil service station, and retired from civil service at Tinker AFB in 1974. He served in the Pacific during World War II and was retired from the U.S. Army Reserves.
On February 11, 1939, he married Falba Antoinette "Tony" Vorel in Purcell, Oklahoma.
They lived in Salem, Illinois, and Midwest City, Oklahoma, before moving to Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1991, living at the Oklahoma Christian Home. In 2007 they moved to Loveland, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty eight years, as well as all of his siblings.
He is survived by two daughters: Judy Murphy and Dan of Fair Play, South Carolina; and Sheri Bailey and Bob of Windsor, Colorado.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Stacy Roland and husband Mark of Fair Play, South Carolina; Courtney Stolz and Whit of North Garden, Virginia; Jeremy Stout and wife Sally of Daphne, Alabama; Anne Marcum and husband Sam of Mill Valley, California; Aaron Bailey and wife Andrea of Gill, Colorado; and Mark Bailey of Vancouver, Washington. He also has seven great-grandchildren: Sean Roland, Ashlyn and Hudson Stolz, Murphy and Patrick Stout, Daphne and Aislinn Bailey; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
He was a giving man who was very generous with both his time and his money. He volunteered many hours at the Edmond Historical Museum. He also attended the First Christian Churches of Midwest City and Edmond, Oklahoma.
A celebration of Harold's life will take place Saturday, October 24, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Community Center at Bradford Village, 300 Enz, Edmond, Oklahoma. A light lunch will be provided.
Friends and family are invited to come and share their memories of Harold.
Burial will be at the Carney Cemetery, Carney, Oklahoma.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Edmond Historical Society, 431 South Boulevard, Edmond, Oklahoma 73034, or to the benevolent fund at the Good Samaritan Village, 2101 S. Garfield Ave., Loveland, Colorado 80537.
