DURWARD STEVENS
1949 - 2014


Durward and Thelma Stevens passed from this life on August 21, 2014; they were both 64 years of age.
He was born on August 28, 1949 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Harold and Elsa Stevens.
Durward grew up in Tulare, California, and was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on August 8, 1964 by Brother Alvin Young in Davis Creek, California.
He met and married his sweetheart, Thelma Overacker in Tulare, California on March 14, 1970, and to this union two daughters were born Delinda, and Christle. Together they traveled for his work in construction, and visited many different assemblies and met many different brethren and friends along the way.
Durward and Thelma are survived by their two daughters, Delinda Rodgers and husband Greg of Drumright, Oklahoma; Christle Jones and husband Robert of Kiefer, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Brandon and Matthew Jones; and Lacey and Sarah Rodgers; two step grandchildren, Jarrett Rodgers and wife Kristy; and Keirda Porter and husband Jeremy.
He is survived by one brother, Harold “Buddy” Stevens of Parkland, Oklahoma; four sisters, Sharon Smith and husband Bud of Cushing, Oklahoma; Mona Lybarger of Lowell, Oregon; Tawanna Partridge of Cushing, Oklahoma; and Sonja Billingsley and Marty of Cushing, Oklahoma.
Durward is preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister Debbie Royce; and one infant sister, Alona Sue.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Sapulpa Church of the Firstborn.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing.
Services will be held at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at the Parkland Cemetery in Parkland, Oklahoma.
