BETTY JO SPICER
1929 - 2016


Betty Jo Hessman Coleman Spicer was born on October 13, 1929, in Paden, Oklahoma, and departed this life on January 9, 2016, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 86.
Betty, the daughter of F.W. “Dutch” and Lillian Pearl Chaney Hessman, was a resident of Prague.
She lived in the Paden area for 65 years before moving to Prague. She attended Paden High School graduating with the class of 1947.
Betty married N.C. Coleman in 1948 and they remained married until his death in March 1997. To this union three children were born, Shirley, Jerry and Robin. In July 1998, she married Glenn E. Spicer. They remained married until his death in 2001.
Betty was employed as an office manager for Prague Municipal Hospital for 28 years. She was a member of Prague First Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
Betty’s parents, first husband, N.C. Coleman, second husband, Glenn Spicer, daughter, Shirley Bland, and three brothers, Col. Fred Hessman, Bob Hessman and Jack Hessman preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Coleman of Prague; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Kevin Cornelius of Prague; son-in-law, David Bland of Prague; stepson, Chuck Spicer and children of Canyon Country, California; stepdaughter, Kathy Crocker and children of Canyon Country, California; sisters-in-law, Sue Hessman of Paden and Fern Hessman of Paden; grandchildren, Staci and Simon Winlock, Jami and Zach Patterson, Steve Sala, Jeremy Coleman, Erin and Barry Brown and Amy and Noah White; twelve great grandchildren; other numerous family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating.
Interment will follow at Paden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
