GLEN ALBERT SMITH
1918 - 2016


Glen Albert Smith, retired farmer and retired from Conoco, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 in the Hillcrest/Cushing Hospital at the age of 97 years.
The son of the late Frank Smith and Helen Bishop Smith, Glen was born on November 14, 1918 in Cushing, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in the Cushing and Agra schools, graduating from Agra High School.
In addition to farming all of his life, he was retired from Conoco in Ponca City, where he worked in the research department.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Mae “Bobbie” McKeown on November 14, 1937 in Agra and to this union two sons, Francis Glen and Gary “Buddy” were born. Bobbie preceded him in death on March 20, 2013, and the couple had been married for over 75 years prior to her death.
Glen was a hard worker, whether he was working on the farm, or at his church, he always believed in staying busy. He was a carpenter by trade and was known for raising his Angus cattle.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He was also a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country during World War II.
Surviving include his son, Buddy Smith and his wife Charlotte of Agra; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; one niece and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Francis Glen Smith, and two brothers, Lester Smith and Charles Wilmer Smith.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Cheryl Armstrong-Kaukis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Osage Cemetery at Agra.
