BOBBY JOE SMITH
1956 - 2012


Bobby Joe Smith passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 56 years.
The son of the late Charles Wilmer Smith and Jennie Harris Smith, Bobby was born on January 5, 1956 in Oklahoma City and was raised and educated in the Oklahoma City and Putnam City Schools.
He attended Radio Broadcasting School, working for a short period in a Radio Station in Stratford, Texas and Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
He joined the Navy on December 3, 1975 and spent two years in Japan. He went on temporary retirement on February 9, 1979 and received his disability discharge from the Navy on April 1, 1992.
Bobby had worked various jobs in the oilfields, driving tank trucks, hauling oil and salt water. And had also hauled beef from Utah to California.
Survivors include his step-mother, Carol Smith of Cushing; several aunts and uncles, including Glenn and Bobbie Smith of Agra; James Harris of Cushing; Pauline and Alvin Gillaspy of California; and Hazel and Eugene Hermann of Texas; as well as numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by both his parents, Wilmer and Jennie Smith.
Graveside services will be held in conjunction with his father, Wilmer Smith, following Wilmer's services at the First Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m.
