VIRGINIA MAE SILKWOOD
1927-2014
Virginia Mae Todd Silkwood, a longtime Cushing resident passed away on October 16, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Midland, Texas at the age of 87.
She was born September 13, 1927 in Neelyville, Missouri to Joseph Edward and Edith Marie {Grimes} Todd.
She was raised and educated in the Perkins area.
Virginia married Clarence Eugene Silkwood on March 11, 1946 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
She had worked at the Junior High Cafeteria. She had also worked at Resthaven Nursing home as an aide for seventeen years.
Virginia was a full time homemaker and an avid gardner.
She was a supporter of the Ingalls Community Center and Virginia loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter; Donna Snyder and husband Larren of Midland, Texas; a son, Dan. R. Silkwood and wife Tammy of Ripley; four grandchildren, Jenny Sadler of Bixby; Douglas Snyder of San Antonio, Texas; Gina Snyder-Lann and husband Nathan of Midland, Texas; and Eric R. Silkwood of Stillwater; eight great-grandchilren, Kaycee Alleman of Haskell; Jackson Antinore of Hixson, Tennessee; Samantha Lann of Midland, Texas; and Jonathan Lann of Midland, Texas; Mackenzie Snyder, Corbin Silkwood and Cooper Silkwood of Stillwater; and Isabella Alleman of Bixby; sisters Imogene Oakes, Arzella Dennis and husband Wayne; Helen Jester and husband Shelby; Dolly Jauch and husband E. W.; Norma Jean McBride; brothers, Norman Todd and wife Flo; Melvin Todd and wife Onie; Wayne Todd, sisters-in-law Betty Todd, Joan Hatfield, Alice Brake, brothers-in-law; Leon and Mary Silkwood; Rolla and Jeannie Silkwood; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Charley Eugene Silkwood; and husband Clarence Eugene Silkwood; sister, Marie Radford and brother Bobby Todd.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Diabetes Association or Ingalls Community Center.
Family will greet friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Terry Dennis, Virginia's nephew will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Flynn Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.
