CLARENCE EUGENE SILKWOOD
1928-2014
Clarence Eugene Silkwood, a longtime Cushing resident and business owner, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 86.
Clarence was born May 29, 1928 in Perkins to Charlie Clarence and Alma Cooper Silkwood.
He was raised and educated in the Ripley area.
On March 11, 1946 in Stillwater, he married Virginia Mae Todd.
Clarence began his career as a pipeline welder in 1952 and worked for Hoover and Underwood Welding up until the mid sixties then he operated his own business, Silkwood Welding.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Cushing Masonic Lodge No. 111. He served as the lodge’s treasurer for twelve years.
Clarence was a supporter of the Ingalls Community Center and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; a daughter, Donna Snyder and husband Larren of Midland, Texas; a son, Dan. R. Silkwood and wife Tammy of Ripley; four grandchildren, Jenny Sadler of Bixby; Douglas Snyder of San Antonio, Texas; Gina Snyder-Lann and husband Nathan of Midland, Texas; and Eric R. Silkwood of Stillwater; six great-grandchildren, Kaycee Alleman of Haskell; Jackson Antinore of Hixson, Tennessee; Samanatha Lann of Midland, Texas; and Jonathan Lann of Midland, Texas; McKenzie Snyder of San Antonio, Texas; Corbin R. Silkwood of Stillwater; and Isabella Alleman of Bixby; two sisters, Joan Hatfield of Stillwater; and Alice Brake of Cushing; two brothers, Leon Silkwood and wife Mary of Cushing; and Rolla Silkwood and wife Jeannie, also of Cushing; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; cousins, uncles and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Charles Eugene Silkwood; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing. Terry Dennis, Clarence's nephew, will officiate.
Burial will be in Flynn Cemetery. The Silkwood family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
