ROBERT LEE SAMS
1953 - 2010


Robert Lee Sams, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the age of 57 years.
The son of the late Dennis V. Sams and Ester Jennings Sams, Robert was born on March 1, 1953 in Cushing, Oklahoma.
He was reared and educated in Cushing.
Robert lived in Bristow, Oklahoma for a short time and while living there he worked in construction, shingling houses. He returned to Cushing and continued working in construction but eventually began working for John Ball Construction where he helped assemble steel buildings.
Robert was united in marriage to Anna Smith on July 19, 1994 in Arkansas.
He enjoyed fishing, watching a John Wayne western, and collecting old records, along with his love for playing the drums. He joined his beloved "Puggy", whom he spent most of his time with. They will continue to be together in heaven. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Anna of the home; six children, Amanda Stout and her husband Josh of Jenks, Oklahoma; Chris Claxton and his wife Christina of Cushing; Chad Claxton of Cushing; Kim Cook and her husband Dustin of Ardmore; Robbie Sams, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Cushing; and Jamie Pettic and her husband Rodney of Drumright; four brothers, Curtis Sams and his wife Michelle of Cushing; Gary Sams of Stillwater; Rick Sams and his wife Joy of Agra; and Randy Sams of Cushing; twelve grandchildren, Cora, Lucas, Josie, Jacob, McKalea, Payton, Kagen, Harlie, Gracey, Jamison, Breckon, and Baylor; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Galbraith.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing Oklahoma and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing, Oklahoma with Mr. Wendyl Heffington of the Church of Christ officiating.
Interment will follow at Flynn Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.
