JANET LAVON BUCKMASTER SALTERS
1940 - 2011


Janet Lavon Saltzmon Buckmaster Salters, 70, of Shawnee, Oklahoma went to be with our Lord on April 17, 2011 after a fierce battle with heart disease.
She was born August 24, 1940 in Dos Palos, California, the daughter of Louis and Jewell Saltzmon.
Janet married her high school sweetheart, Bill D. Buckmaster {1938-2004} in September 1957. She then had three children.
She graduated from Tranquility High School in Tranquility, California, making many lifelong friends, including Burl Wayne Salters, which she married in May of 2008.
Janet lived the early years of her life in Mendota, California and in 1970 she and Bill moved their family to Shawnee, Oklahoma where she raised her children and lived the rest of her life.
She worked for Action, Inc. for several years which she was very proud. She loved helping Pottawatomie county seniors through the many government programs coordinated through the Community Action office. She also worked for Jay’s Steak House before going into business for herself. She owned several small businesses including: The Pecan Barn, The Diaper Barn, and the Nibble Nook.
Janet loved sewing and craft projects, from making curtains and dolls to re-upholstering boats and furniture. She loved cruises to Mexico and she especially loved to play the slots, and her friends at Firelake Casino.
She is survived by her husband Burl Salters; her children, Rhonda Buckmaster-Watkins and her husband Eddie; Anita Buckmaster-Brochu and her husband Ronald; Billy Buckmaster and his wife Becky Norton; step-sons: Randy Salters and his wife Mary; and Jason Salters and his wife Teresa; her sister Judy Kinnett and her husband Troy; her niece Alexis Childers and nephew Chance Childers of Michigan.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, LaDonna Brochu, Shawna Brochu Martin, Christopher Brochu, Dustin Brochu, Blaire Watkins Madewell, Sky Buckmaster and Dymon Norton Buckmaster, fourteen grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at Osage Cemetery.
