DONALD RAY ROZELL
1952 - 2009


Donald Ray Rozell, Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the age of 56 years.
Don was born on October 31, 1952 to Watts Boyd Rozell and Betty Josephine Rozell in Chandler, Oklahoma.
He was raised on the family farm 7 miles north of Chandler where he worked long, hard hours raising mostly crops and cattle. He and his siblings attended Union School, a one-room schoolhouse for all eight grades. Don graduated from Chandler High School in 1970 and attended OSU.
From 1974-1980 Don was employed by Reynolds Aluminum as a mechanical engineer. From his ingenuity he developed a more highly efficient shredder and received a prestigious award for saving the company significant amount of money on processing.
With his entrepreneurial attitude, Don built a commercial painting business, game room business and in 1986 started Hub’s Vending Corporation named after his grandpa “Hub”. The business expanded into five states with their home base in Chandler. In Don’s ventures, he would partner with one or more of his brothers Butch, Roger, John or Earl.
Don loved his family, his brothers and two sisters, Ann Day and Nancy Orr.
He married the love of his life, Sharon K. Hudgins-Rozell, during a family Christmas gathering on December 18, 2005. The couple had kept their wedding plans secret to surprise their families.
Don was known for his engaging and entertaining personality, he changed strangers into friends. Don had many friends and he, a friend of Bill W., loved his extended families in Cushing, NW Oklahoma City, and in his travels across the country; he always made a friend.
He loved gardening and planted special roses for his wife. He performed magic tricks for his nieces and nephews. Don loved children and candy, especially on Halloween; being a Halloween baby himself.
His generosity and compassion extended not only to his family and friends, but also to the Oxford House of Troy. Don had an adventurous and courageous nature. He was a good friend, brother and husband. He possessed a profound respect for his elders and was a spiritual leader for many. He was loved by many and will be missed by more.
Preceding Don in death were his parents and sister-in-law, Jean Baker-Rozell.
He is survived by his wife, siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.. in the First Christian Church with Kevin Clouse, pastor of the First Church of God, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Chandler.
