HORACE EDWARD ROGERS
1933 - 2013


Horace Edward "Ed" Rogers was born on December 29, 1933, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 79.
Horace, the son of William Audie and Ora Lee Barrett Rogers, lived in Prague for many years until his recent move to Longview.
Horace attended school in Lindsay, Oklahoma and served with the United States Army.
He retired from Tinker Air Force Base, was in the custom hay business in Prague for many years, and drove a school bus there. He was in the cattle business in years past and thoroughly enjoyed raising and caring for Santa Gertrudis cattle.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Prague and enjoyed volunteering with the UMW’s “Food 4 Kids” weekend backpack program.
Horace was an avid reader and a skilled domino player who loved coon hunting and fellowship with family and friends -- he was well loved and will be greatly missed.
His parents preceded Horace in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Rogers of the home in Longview, Texas, sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Kenna Rogers of Prague and Mike and Donna Rogers of Prague, daughter, Rhonda Stephens of Prague, step-children, Billy Weir of Longview, Stephanie Weir and her husband Bob of Burbank, California, Angela Wright and her husband Jon, of Longview, Texas, seven grandchildren, severn step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brother, Tom Rogers of Bethel, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorials may be made to: Prague United Methodist Women, 7901 Klabzuba, Prague, OK 74864.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Prague with Rev. Scott Keneda officiating.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.
