RUTH CATHRINE REED
1920 - 2014


Ruth Cathrine Smith Reed went to her God on April 28, 2014 at the age of 94 in Slidell, Louisiana.
She was born in Chandler, Oklahoma on March 17, 1920.
Ruth was married to Leroy B. Reed on July 27, 1940. Of their marriage of 57 years, they had one son and one daughter.
She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
Ruth was a homemaker. In February of 1971 she became an Avon representative and sold for over 40 years. She made a host of good friends during that time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lillie Smith, her husband, Leroy B. Reed, her son, Earl L. Reed, her sisters, Anna Belle Martin of Andover, Kansas and Loretta Smith Barrett of Chandler, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Malone of Slidell, Louisiana and her sister, Irene Cathers of Chandler, Oklahoma, daughter-in-law, Linda Reed of Ridgeway, Colorado, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral arrangements made by Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell, Louisiana and Parks Funeral Home in Chandler, Oklahoma.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband and her parents in Davenport Cemetery in Davenport, Oklahoma.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Davenport Cemetery.
Viewing will take place at the cemetery starting at 2:00 p.m. to service time.
