ELVIN WATSON RAWDON
1927 - 2011


Elvin Watson Rawdon, 84, was born May 23, 1927 and passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 after a sudden illness.
Elvin was born in Shamrock, Oklahoma to Joe and Ethel Rawdon and was the second youngest of ten children.
He graduated from Depew High School in 1946 and was an active member in the Depew Alumni Association. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1948 to 1988 leaving a forty-year career in which he was tremendously proud.
After retirement he was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, donating his time, efforts and money to the organization. He also served on the Wellston School Board for several years. He was an active member of the Wellston Lions Club and a member of the United Methodist Church.
Some of his passions were fishing, hunting, and sports especially Wellston High School basketball. His love of his favorite teams, New York Yankees, and Oklahoma Sooners was passed down through out his family.
Known as Shorty or just Rawdon to his friends he was always engaging in conversation and will be missed.
Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Irvin, Claude, Clyde, Joseph Jr. and Glenn, and sisters, Mildred, Geraldine and Lillian.
He is survived in life by his son, Larry Rawdon and wife Lenora of Wellston, daughter, Sherry Connelly and husband Gary of Wellston, four grandchildren, Jason Connelly and wife Misti of Edmond and Justin Connelly of Oklahoma City, Lori Lysoby and husband Michael of Dallas, Texas and Joe Rawdon and wife Anna of Shawnee, seven great-grandchildren, Rachel, Zachary, Sydney, and Jordan Connelly, Charlotte Lysoby, Ava and Reese Rawdon, one brother, Ralph Rawdon and wife Mary of Drumright along with numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
