VERA GWENDOLINE PROUGH
1912 - 1974


Vera Gwendoline Wilson Prough, 62, went home to her Lord and Savior on September 21, 1974 at the Edmond Hospital, she was born January 24, 1912 in Wellston, Oklahoma to the late Lawrence Ray and Nettie Belle West Wilson.
She graduated from Wellston High School in 1930.
She married George Albra Prough Jr., on June 15, 1932 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Prough loved going to church, baking cookies served with fresh squeezed lemonade, scrap booking and spending time with her family and friends.
She spent most of her career as a Telephone Operator with Southwestern Bell and was a Postal Clerk for 10 years with the Wellston Post Office at the time of her death.
Mrs. Prough was an active member in the First Baptist Church in Wellston where she taught Sunday School and a member of The Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Prough is preceded in death by her parents and brothers George and Lawrence.
She is survived by her husband, George Jr., of Wellston; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Ray and Katherine Prough of Wellston; two grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 1974 in the First Baptist Church, Wellston, Oklahoma with Rev. Randy Childers officiating with interment following at the Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Curry Funeral Home, Chandler, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers: Franklin Burkett, Harold Stephens, Ray Belitz, Raymond Graham, Bill Elliott and Charles Rackley.
