DARRELL RAY PORTER
1947 - 2014


Darrell Ray Porter, a longtime Agra resident, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in Chandler, after a lengthy illness at the age of 67.
Darrell was born on January 3, 1947 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Ray and Juanita Molloy Porter.
He was the Cushing New Year Baby of 1947.
Darrell grew up in Agra, graduating from Agra High School.
He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Agra in 1965.
Darrell married Carolyn Sisco on August 18, 1967 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. The couple lived in Stillwater where he worked for the large animal veterinary medicine clinic at OSU for a number of years.
He moved to Ponca City and worked for Titus Manufacturing, then moved to Ripley, where he worked for Coca-Cola and later Mercury Marine.
Darrell was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed taking care of his horses.
He liked playing baseball with the Sisco family. He enjoyed traveling to Branson and Memphis just to name a few of his favorite areas.
Darrell is survived by three brothers and one sister: Galen Porter and wife Kay of Stillwater; Bruce Porter and wife Nesta of Agra; Wanda Faye Porter of Agra; Randy Porter and wife Paula of Agra; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Lisa Rayeann Porter, great niece Alyssa Rayann Wilburn; and great nephew Tobin McTague.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at the Osage Cemetery, Agra, Oklahoma. Chaplin Ron Keeling will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
