DR. DEE CLENON PENNINGTON
1911 - 2001


Retired Chandler dentist Dr. Dee Clenon Pennington, 89, died Friday at Shawnee Regional Hospital.
He was born January 16, 1911, in Rankin, Oklahoma, the son of Charles C. and Zora Adalene Gray Pennington.
He attended school in Roger Mills county and graduated from Central State Teachers College in Edmond in May 1938. He also graduated from Kansas City Dental College.
He served as a contract dentist for the Civilian Conservation Corps., treating workers at camps throughout Wyoming. During World War II, he entered the Army Medical Corps as first lieutenant and served at an induction camp for the duration of the war. Pennington retired from the Army Reserves in 1971, ranking as lieutenant colonel.
In 1940, he married Hazel Morris. She preceded him in death in 1990.
On March 20, 1992, he married Norma Lowe.
After the war, he continued his practice in Chandler, retiring in 1983.
The doctor was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion, Chandler Christian Church and the American Dental Association, where he was a lifetime member. He was also a member of the Chandler Golf Club.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Hazel; sister, Irma Womack; and brothers, Parker Pennington, Clifford Pennington and Earl Pennington.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; two sisters, Evelyn and husband Snip Baker of Fay, Oklahoma and Auba Pennington of Watonga; two brothers, Percy Pennington of Reydon, Oklahoma; and Pascal "Pac" Pennington and wife Betty of Fritch, Texas; sisters-in-law Sula Pennington of Lancaster, California; and Della Lee and Sharky Nelson of Seal Beach, California; brother-in-law Gale and wife June Liedorff of Mountain Ranch, California; and a host of other family members, friends and patients.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler. The Rev. Fred Rider will officiate.
Burial will be in the Carney Cemetery.
