GENEVIEVE ANNA MARTHA OESTMANN
1922 - 2006


Genevieve Anna Martha Gerfen Oestmann, longtime Cushing area resident, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2006 in the Linwood Village Nursing home at the age of 84 years.
The daughter of the late Wilhelm Fredrick Gerfen and Elise Christina Ewen Gerfen, Genevieve was born on April 26, 1922 in Newkirk, Oklahoma, moving to the Avery Community as a small child where she was reared and educated.
She was united in marriage to Reinhart Henry Oestmann on February 15, 1942 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1984.
Genevieve was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was in Luther League; taught young children in Sunday school; was Sunday school president for one year; taught adult Sunday school for over nine years and then took a break but was still helping out.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, always putting them first and she enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Survivors include her three children, Kathy Wolff and her husband Larry; Heubert Oestmann and his wife Karen, both of Cushing; and Mary Edwards and her husband Tom of Rantoul, Ilinois; two brothers, Arthur Gerfen of Cushing; and Martin Gerfen and his wife Phyllis of Kansas City, Kansas; one sister Dorothy Oestmann and her husband Melvin of Cushing; grandchildren, Dale and Cindy Wolff, Cheryl and Ralph Sheldon, Michael and Natalie Wolff, Bryon and Tricia Oestmann, Stephen and Wendie Oestmann, John and Angela Oestmann; Aaron Oestmann, Jessica Oestmann, Bill and Millicent MacGregor and Tyler Edwards; great-grandchildren Dalen Wolff, Garrett and Tanner Haskins, Chris Sheldon, Pat and Sarah Burden, Madison and Brice Wolff, Rachel, Wyatt, Hannah and Morgun Oestmann, Katie, Spencer and Warren Oestmann, Ethan, James and Lilah Oestmann, Leanza, Laurel, Isaac and Shannon MacGregor; great-great-grandchildren, Drake and Brooklyn Burden and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Genevieve was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Harold Gerfen.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Bryan Dziadik Willingham officiating.
Burial will follow in the Church Yard Cemetery.
The family will greet friends Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center at the Davis Funeral Home.
